**Security Officer, Full Time - Hillcrest, I35 Campus**
Job Summary:
Provides customer service and protection to Scott & White patients, visitors and staff. Safeguards Scott & White assets and property from theft and criminal mischief. Investigates all thefts, accidents, improper actions or conduct and all offenses of a criminal nature. Promotes good public and staff relations.
PATROLS AND MONITORS ALL BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS TO PREVENT FIRE, THEFT AND VANDALISM.
*Provides continuous surveillance of all security aspects of the buildings and grounds and promptly investigates and reports all potential and actual security violations.
*Thoroughly patrols assigned area, makes note of any conditions that could be hazardous and promptly reports them to the appropriate authority.
*Maintains continuous radio contact with base, shift supervisor and other officers in the field; communicates clearly and appropriately while operating department radio system.
*Diligently reviews daily security log at start of shift and ensures accurate documentation of shift activity in department computer prior to the end of shift.
USES GOOD JUDGEMENT TO RESPOND IN A CALM AND EFFICIENT MANNER TO EMERGENCY CALLS FOR ASSISTANCE.
*Responds expediently to all emergency alarms in accordance with established policies and procedures and to all areas of Scott & White as required/requested.
*Responds without hesitation and assists with all medical emergencies as required, within the scope of the officer''s training and expertise.
INVESTIGATES ALL THEFTS, ACCIDENTS, IMPROPER ACTIONS OR CONDUCT AND ALL OFFENSES OF A CRIMINAL NATURE.
*Promptly responds to and carefully negotiates all situations threatening security.
*Writes clear, accurate and objective incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results for all incidents reported during the shift.
*Diligently maintains the integrity of Scott & White''s Security Department by handling sensitive investigations and information in a professional manner and safeguarding confidential information obtained through investigation or from Law Enforcement authorities.
PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE PATIENTS, VISITORS AND STAFF MEMBERS OF SCOTT & WHITE.
*Assists employees, visitors and patients with special security requirements and requests, lost and found, and securing valuables in a courteous and professional manner.
*Courteously responds to inquiries from patients, visitors or staff members and provides complete location directions when asked.
*Provides emergency vehicle assistance such as jumpstarts, vehicle entry and any other service that augments the safety and well-being of Scott & White patients, visitors or staff members.
ADHERES TO ALL POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND REGULATIONS TO ENSURE CONTINUITY OF SERVICE.
*Consistently maintains and is familiar with current Operations Orders; consistently adheres to and supports departmental policies and procedures.
*Diligently observes all motor vehicle laws and applicable Scott & White policies and procedures in the operation of Security vehicles.
*Maintains all equipment assigned for daily usage in clean, working order.
PARTICIPATES IN RELEVANT TRAINING AND QUALIFICATION ACTIVITIES TO MAINTAIN AND IMPROVE PERSONAL COMPETENCY.
*Successfully completes the Texas Commission on Private Security Academy Levels I, II and III within three months of hire date.
*Successfully completes the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety Basic Security Officer course within 12 months of hire.
*Successfully attains and maintains a minimum passing score of 135 out of a possible 150 points (90% accuracy) during quarterly firearms requalification.
*Successfully completes all scheduled annual training requirements.
*Keeps current with changing trends in security to maintain professional competency and knowledge.
PERFORMS OTHER POSITION APPROPRIATE DUTIES AS REQUIRED IN A COMPETENT, PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS MANNER.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY:
*A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), may include specialized or vocational courses.
*An Associate''s degree (two-year program) or equivalent formal training program preferred.
*Possess or obtain Security Officer Commission and valid Texas Class C Driver''s License upon employment.
*One to two years experience required.
*Two to three years experience preferred.
*One year Commissioned Security Officer (TX) or related field (law enforcement, corrections or equivalent combination of experience, training and education) required.
*Security, law enforcement, corrections or equivalent combination of experience, training and education preferred.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal; investigative; report writing; computer; firearms; self defense; maintains a safe driving record required.
*Ability to deal calmly with potentially volatile people and situations preferred.
*Regular exposure to potentially violent people and situations including persons in the act of committing a crime, persons possibly armed with weapons and mentally disturbed, violent or other unstable individuals.
